This is my first journal entry here on DA. I think I'm going to be a bit more active in my artwork, seeing as it is one of my very few outlets to express or use my individuality in the military. I'll also try o move away from using my camera to take pictures of work (I have thousands of pictures f Marines training in the field). I'll to get out more (cringe), so I can take more pictures. The trick is going out during the right time of day. My favorite lighting for taking photos is late afternoon, with the sun between about 35-50 degrees above the horizon. That's tough, seeing as that means going out at like 8 in the evening here in Spain. This whole fucking country is in the wrong time zone. I can't wait to get back to the states (oh, btw, there's a good chance I'll be stationed at Pendleton in CA in June 2008, which means trips to Mammoth, Yosimite, Death valley, LA, San Francisco, etc).

One good prospect is a small industrial looking area in El Puerto de Santa Maria. there's what looks like an abandoned factory and some railroad tracks next to a river. I plan on hitting that up for some neat looking photos. If it means ninja'ing my way in there, so be it.

Oh, I'm also planning on getting a tattoo here in Spain. There's a shop in Puerto where a Canuck works (awesome, he speaks English). I plan on getting some sakura blossoms on my right arm/shoulder, and I'm pretty confident this guy can do what I have in mind.

Wow. It's 1:15 AM. That's what I get for sleeping all day. It's gonna be a long night. Later.
